Environment and sustainability

Environment

In the interests of the environment, Farm Dairy is actively improving energy efficiency at its production site. In addition, Farm Dairy is optimizing water usage and reducing water pollution, as well as reducing the weight and size of packaging and caps.

Sustainability programme

Where possible, Farm Dairy uses packaging that is less harmful to the environment. As of July 2010, FSC-certified 1-litre cardboard containers can be provided. FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council. The FSC label guarantees that the raw material for cardboard packaging comes from responsibly managed forests. After all, forests are a vital source of CO2-uptake.

The Farm Dairy suppliers have been certified for the following two systems: FSC (Mixed Sources) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).

Sustainable agriculture

Farm Dairy sources all its milk from Dutch livestock farmers and supports sustainability programmes focusing on soya, cocoa and grazing land (80%).

Green care transport: collaborating on sustainable logistics in a socially responsible manner
Farm Dairy is constantly attempting to reduce CO2-emissions per kilogram transported product. In collaboration with freight companies, an energy and CO2-reduction plan has been developed for the years 2011-2012. Farm Dairy is also reducing the number of transport kilometres, inter alia by using optimal route planning. In addition, the freight company has earned the lean and green award.
